Which engine is better? One of these bad boys will be in my driveway soon, but which one? The LS2 will of course be newer with probably lower mileage but i think i'm leaning towards the Z06 motored 04-05 V. Are there any drawbacks to the LS6?

Both are amazing engines and are very similar in a lot of ways. They both put out the same power while sharing the same ZO6 cam. The biggest difference would be the displacement 5.7L vs 6.0L . The LS6 is a more rare engine as it hasnt been put in as many GM vehicles but there are more CTS-v's out there with the LS6. If you were to want to add horsepower to your car down the line you would get more return out of an LS2 with the added size. Besides the engine the 2004-05 V's have had some concern over their rear differential and half shafts not being able to handle the power so they were upgraded in 2006. Hope this helps.

I joined this forum for the exact same reason. I'm hoping to buy a 2004 - 2007 CTS-V, as the new ones are still out of my price range. Which is better? LS6 or LS2? Another forum said that the LS6 has more after-market components available, as it's been around longer. They also think the LS2 will likely get more overtime, and that because it's newer it's probably better. It's hard to find technical information for this comparison. When viewed on the same dyno graph, how do they compare stock? What are quarter mile times stock?
Odds are I will get one of the LS6 V's as they are cheaper because they are older with more miles/depreciation.
Good luck in your research.
